Job summary

Lightmatter is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the hardware design of next‑gen silicon photonics AI accelerators and interconnects. You will own system‑level HW, coordinate across mechanical, packaging, IC, software teams, and drive solutions from concept through production.

Expect to define requirements with system architects, design high‑speed power and interconnect circuitry, validate with labs, and ensure manufacturability at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years in system-level electrical design, taking products from concept to production.
• Proficient in schematic design with Cadence, Mentor, or Altium (Altium preferred).
• Experience with VRMs, high-speed SERDES, PCIe, Ethernet, QSPI, I3C, I2C interfaces.
• 5+ years lab experimentation, cross-functional integration, and debugging.
• Thermal solutions experience for ICs and board-level systems; familiarity with PLM tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with system architect to define system-level HW requirements and specs.
• Electrical design of power, memory, and interconnect circuits (analog and digital).
• Select components to fit IC and photonics requirements; develop designs and simulations.
• Develop concepts and simulations of chip-modules and systems from first principles.
• Oversee PCB layout and enforce electrical constraint rules; ensure manufacturability and robustness.
• Qualify chip and system electrical properties; perform lab validation of boards and systems.
• Lead integration with mechanical, software, IC, and other teams; support manufacturing.
• Coordinate with vendors and supply partners; explore new components and processes.
