Job summary

MP Engineers + Architects is seeking a SR. Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design and coordination for building and infrastructure projects. The role involves developing drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with codes and client standards.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, and strong communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Office-based position with site support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE license or EIT preferred.
• 5-7 years of electrical design experience in construction.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and ETAP/SKM.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC.
• Experience with construction documents and field coordination.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design drawings including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communication, and grounding systems using AutoCAD/Revit or other relevant software.
• Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and coordination studies.
• Ensure designs meet NEC, NFPA, IEEE, local building codes, and client-specific standards.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to coordinate all building systems.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and material specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, including responding to RFIs and conducting site inspections.
• Prepare design documentation including schematics, schedules, and specifications.
• Attend project meetings, site visits, and coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed.
• Ensure all designs are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and constructible.
• Participate in value engineering and identify opportunities for design optimization.
