A specialist engineering consultancy providing multidisciplinary building design services, with a focus on technically demanding projects across the science, technology, and critical infrastructure sectors. The firm supports clients across a range of complex environments, including data centres, research and laboratory facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, and secure government buildings. Its engineering teams work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other design disciplines to develop practical, reliable, and efficient building systems. The business places a strong emphasis on technical quality, collaborative project delivery, client relationships, and the development of its engineering talent.
The Role:
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing electrical engineering projects from initial concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
This role focuses on developing electrical infrastructure solutions for complex buildings, covering power distribution, emergency power, lighting, life safety, and associated low-voltage systems.
Responsibilities include producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, technical reports, and construction drawings, alongside selecting appropriate equipment such as transformers, generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and distribution assemblies.
The successful candidate will work directly with clients to establish project requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure designs meet operational needs, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints.
The position also involves coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, overseeing project delivery, supporting construction-stage activities, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
In addition to project leadership, the engineer will contribute to client relationship management and the wider development of the electrical engineering practice.
