Position Overview
A leading EPC firm is seeking a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer with high-voltage substation design experience to lead electrical engineering activities for utility projects up to 765kV. The role covers detailed engineering, EPC execution, technical leadership, client coordination, and design quality. An active PE license is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and provide technical direction on HV substation projects up to 765kV.
- Develop and review protection & control designs, including protective relays, panel layouts, one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop and review physical substation designs, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, and auxiliary AC/DC systems.
- Prepare electrical equipment specifications, equipment lists, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering design packages.
- Manage engineering schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical coordination.
- Work closely with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide technical presentations, project updates, and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Support proposals, business development, and project pursuit activities.
- Travel to client/vendor offices and project sites for design reviews, field verification, and construction support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Active PE license required.
- Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, preferably through EPC project execution.
- Strong protection & control and physical substation design experience.
- Experience with projects up to 765kV is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
