Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• 7+ years in the design, development, and commissioning of electrical or industrial control systems
• Proven expertise designing and implementing closed-loop, real-time control systems, such as deterministic motion control on PLC, PAC, or embedded real-time platforms

Nice to have

• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text (SCL/ST) on a major PLC platform; Siemens TIA Portal, S7-1500/1200, and Sinamics
• Experience developing data acquisition and performance benchmarking test plans, and completing validation testing

A machinery manufacturing client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of industrial machine control systems. This role will own the controls architecture behind the equipment, ensuring precise motion control, high-speed data integrity, and long-term system reliability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Controls Development: Develop and troubleshoot real-time control code for new features, platform migrations, and bug fixes.
• Electrical Design: Own electrical schematics, panel layouts, and documentation in compliance with UL, CE, and NFPA 79 standards.
• Hardware Ownership: Select and validate controls hardware while managing component lifecycle, obsolescence, and long-term reliability.
• R&D & Automation: Lead development efforts for new machine platforms and internal automation initiatives.
• Commissioning & Field Support: Support machine commissioning and serve as the escalation point for complex system failures.
• Technical Leadership: Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
