Job summary

Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Oakland, CA is seeking an Electric Distribution Engineer, Senior to ensure safe, reliable operation of the electric power system. The role provides technical, planning and project support for substation, distribution, and distributed generation, with the position advancing with experience.

This hybrid role involves coordinating with internal teams and possibly regulators to advance PG&E’s objectives.

Qualifications

A BSEE, MSEE, or PhD in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or the equivalent from outside the United States.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrical power engineering and design.
Active California PE license; or a master’s degree in electrical engineering (MSEE) will credit for one year of experience; up to two years via PE + MSEE.
Active California PE license is desirable; experience in Distribution Equipment Life Cycle Asset Management preferred.

Responsibilities

Works with limited guidance to complete assignments of broad scope and complexity with few precedents or standards.
Applies extensive knowledge of power systems engineering to resolve complex problems.
Evaluates and identifies strategies, plans and opportunities to improve Company performance.
Leads load forecasting and capacity planning processes and identifies DER services.
Provides data to support regulatory proceedings and General Rate Case efforts.
Mentors and provides technical training to other engineers.
