Job summary

Waters is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs. The role ensures compliance with regulations and company policies in a fast-paced life sciences setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or life sciences.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement EHS programs and systems.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Certifications like CSP/CIH/CHMM are desirable.
  • ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in line with regulations and corporate standards.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate incidents and determine root causes with corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and new hires.
  • Manage EHS documentation including permits, licenses, and records.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate EHS into operations and design.
  • Monitor waste, air emissions, and wastewater per environmental permits.
  • Lead emergency response planning and drills (fire, spills, medical emergencies).
  • Stay current with new EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Prepare EHS reports for regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison for regulatory inspections and inquiries.

Job Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies within Waters/BP This role aims to foster a safe and healthy work environment and minimize environmental impact.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT) and Augusta Life Sciences corporate standards.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and specialized safety topics.
  • Manage and maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, training records, incident reports, and compliance data.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, equipment design, and facility modifications.
  • Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, air emissions, and wastewater discharge, and ensure compliance with environmental permits.
  • Lead emergency response planning and drills, including fire prevention, hazardous material spills, and medical emergencies.
  • Stay current with new EHS regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continually improve EHS performance.
  • Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or life sciences environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and management systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 (or ISO 45001) standards preferred.
