Job summary

Southland Industries in Virginia seeks a senior EHS leader to plan, develop, and manage corporate environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple states. You will foster a safety-driven culture and lead audits, trainings, and compliance initiatives.

The role requires extensive EH&S experience, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to drive safety improvements while ensuring OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in EH&S including people management.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred.
  • OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety laws, regulations, policies and procedures, including OSHA, NFPA, EPA and DOT standards.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and health and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and manages corporate EHS programs across the division.
  • Manages safety audits and inspections and recommends corrections for compliance across multiple states.
  • Develops, implements and maintains safety training programs and records.
  • Develops reports and presentations for safety briefings with management.
  • Provides strategic direction to improve EHS performance and minimize risks.
