Job summary

WM seeks a Senior Legal Counsel – Environmental, Health and Safety to provide proactive and strategic legal support on environmental, health and safety regulatory matters across the company. The role focuses on CERCLA, RCRA, air and water regulations, and related enforcement and litigation at federal and state levels.

Qualified candidates must hold a Juris Doctorate, have eight years of relevant experience, and a current State Bar licensure.

Qualifications

• A JD from an accredited law school is required.
• Extensive experience handling environmental, health and safety regulatory matters.
• Strong litigation experience and familiarity with federal/state environmental programs.

Responsibilities

• Provides legal guidance on environmental, health, safety and regulatory matters.
• Manages enforcement and litigation risks for the company.
• Advises management on changes in environmental laws and implements improvements.
• Coordinates outside counsel when needed.
• Responsible for EPA/state agency interactions and negotiations.
