Job summary

The Investment Company Institute (ICI) invites applications for a senior economist role based in Washington, DC. You will assist in analyzing household finance, retirement policy, and fund industry economics, drafting comments and research for publication, and engaging with regulators, academics, and media.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Economics or Finance with at least seven years of related experience, and demonstrate strong econometrics, forecasting, and policy communication

Qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of research on household finance and retirement systems.
• Specialization in tax policy research a plus.
• Substantial knowledge of econometrics, forecasting techniques, and economic modeling.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python, STATA or Matlab.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams or work as a member of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assists in analyzing household survey information and retirement economics.
• Drafts research findings for SSRN, refereed journals, and blogs.
• Monitors developments affecting the fund industry and retirement systems.
• Interacts with regulators, academics, and media as appropriate.
• Develops and mentors junior staff in research initiatives.
