Job summary

Amazon.com seeks economists to work with the Chief Economists and senior management on core business problems across retail, cloud, and operations. You will build econometric models, apply economic theory to forecasting, and contribute to automated systems using world-class data.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD in economics or related field, with 3+ years postdoc/industry experience, strong statistics background, and excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Finance, or closely related field.
• Three or more years of experience in a postdoctoral position; or, three or more years of experience in consulting, government or academic research.
• Applicants with considerably more experience, including mid-career, are encouraged.
• Strong background in statistics methodology, applications to business problems, and/or big data.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.
• Strong research track record.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Build econometric models using our data systems and apply economic theory to solve business problems.
• Collaborate with senior management and Chief Economists on key business problems across retail, cloud, advertising and operations.
• Develop new techniques to process large data sets and contribute to automated systems design.
