Role Description The Senior Economic Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Draper, UT, responsible for leading and implementing economic development initiatives that support business growth and community prosperity within Salt Lake County. This role oversees the planning and execution of programs to attract, retain, and expand businesses, including relationship‑building with local employers, developers, and community organizations. The position involves conducting market and economic analyses, preparing reports and presentations, and recommending policies to strengthen the local economy. The Senior Economic Development Manager collaborates closely with other County departments, local government partners, and regional stakeholders to align economic development strategies with broader community goals. Day‑to‑day tasks include managing projects, coordinating public meetings or outreach, monitoring program performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and County policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Economic Development, including business attraction, retention, expansion, and regional economic analysis.
  • Knowledge of Public Administration and Local Government operations, including policy development, budgeting, and intergovernmental coordination.
  • Background in Urban Planning and Community Development, with experience in land use, infrastructure planning, and revitalization initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse community stakeholders, including business leaders, residents, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, grant applications, and public presentations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in economic development or related local government roles, preferably in a metropolitan or county setting.
