Job summary

First 5 Contra Costa is seeking an Early Childhood Education Program Officer to implement and support professional development for ECE providers and improve program quality. You will plan and lead school readiness initiatives, strengthen collaboration between preschool and K-3, and manage relationships with districts, grantees, and community partners.

The position requires a Master’s in ECE (or related field) and at least five years’ experience in program design, budgeting, and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in early childhood program design and implementation.
• Experience with program budgets and financial reporting.
• Ability to manage diverse stakeholders and cross-sector partnerships.
• Strong written and oral communication; effective project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and implementation of early childhood school readiness projects.
• Oversee strategies, programs, or grantees with capacity building and grant management.
• Collaborate with districts, agencies, and community partners to define outcomes.
• Monitor contracts, budgets, and evaluation to support learning.
• Represent the Commission to external constituencies and present key issues.
