Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter in Scottsdale, AZ, hybrid with in-office Mon–Wed and remote Thu–Fri. You will manage delegated authority relationships, grow a $5–10 million book, and drive profitability within risk appetite.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial P&C underwriting, including E&S exposure, and strong agency management experience. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience.
• Equivalent experience defined as 6+ years as a P&C Underwriter in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Experience with non-admitted and/or Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines underwriting.
• Agency Management experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate information to determine risk acceptability following company guidelines.
• Make appropriate decisions based on underwriting information.
• Conduct agency visits with wholesale partners at least twice a year.
• Manage assigned territory agency relationships.
• Communicate and negotiate underwriting and pricing decisions to optimize outcomes.
• Be proactive and responsive on inquiries/requests.
• Build strong working relationships with agency personnel and internal teams.
• Drive new business opportunities through targeted marketing to agents.
• Complete file audits to ensure adherence to underwriting and pricing standards.
• Attend agency conferences and lead seminars and sessions.
• Participate in annual planning with agents.
• Perform other duties as needed.
