Job description

An industry-leading defense and autonomous systems innovator is seeking a Senior Robotics Lab Technician to support the development and maintenance of mission-critical uncrewed systems. The company develops real-time command, control, and telemetry software and hardware for tactical, high-risk operational environments where reliability is paramount.

This position serves as a central bridge between engineering, flight operations, and production. You will lead daily lab tasks, oversee system integration and prototyping, perform technical diagnostics, and ensure hardware meets strict performance standards prior to field deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Guidance: Oversee and mentor lab technicians during assembly, hardware integration, and ongoing maintenance of autonomous platforms.
  • Prototyping & Integration: Partner with R&D and systems engineers during rapid prototyping, design validation, and hardware integration phases.
  • Diagnostics & Quality: Perform hands‑on testing, fault diagnosis, and root‑cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, RF, and software sub‑systems; manage quality control (QC) procedures.
  • Lab Oversight: Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient laboratory workspace while keeping precise logs of test outcomes, maintenance records, and procedural documentation.
  • Cross‑Functional Support: Provide feedback to engineering teams to address assembly issues, design flaws, or production bottlenecks.
Required Qualifications
  • Technical Experience: 3+ years of direct, hands‑on experience building, modifying, or repairing remote‑controlled (RC) aircraft, uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), or robotics platforms.
  • Core Hardware Skills: Proficiency in electronic wiring, multi‑pin soldering/rework, mechanical assembly, and physical repairs.
  • Diagnostic Ability: Demonstrated expertise in system‑level testing, troubleshooting electrical/RF components, and executing standardized QC protocols.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to operate autonomously while coordinating closely with software, mechanical, and flight operations personnel.
  • Location: Must be based in or willing to commute daily to the Tampa, FL facility.
Preferred Experience
  • Background supporting military UAS, defense R&D, or government prototyping programs.
  • Prior team leadership, shop lead, or lab management experience.
  • Basic working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Hands‑on experience working with composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass).
  • Familiarity with enterprise software platforms (e.g., modern ERP systems, digital task management tools).
