Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop and improve mechanical systems for drill fluid handling and pressure‑containing equipment. You will create 3D models, perform analyses, and collaborate with production teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective designs.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to document specifications, support testing, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a hands‑on role based in Broussard, LA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in oil & gas or drilling equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering standards (API, ASME, NACE), including codes and regulations affecting design development.
• Experience with product design review submittal process with ABS, DNV, ATEX, Lloyds, etc., a plus.
• Able to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner
• Maintain skill in operating a PC, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop drilling tools and equipment to meet customer needs and market demands.
• Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Perform stress, fatigue, thermal analyses to ensure product integrity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare engineering documentation and data required for drawings and material specs.
• Lead improvement efforts for upgrading existing equipment in field or lab.
• Support product testing in lab or field locations and provide technical support as needed.
• Ensure compliance with API, ISO standards and company quality policies.
