Job summary

INSPYR Solutions is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer in Houston, TX, onsite daily. The role focuses on developing drilling rig control system software and hardware, with emphasis on PLCs, HMIs, and industrial protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control theory, hands-on PLC programming (Siemens, Omron), HMI tools, and the ability to manage multiple projects while documenting thoroughly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics preferred.
• 7+ years of PLC programming experience (Siemens, Omron, etc.).
• HMI development experience with tools like Wonderware/WinCC/Ignition.
• Experience with industrial communications protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, CANBUS, OPC UA).

Responsibilities

• Develop control systems for drilling rigs, including software and hardware.
• Design and implement PLC software, HMI, and industrial communication protocols.
• Create design documentation and system diagrams.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot PLC/control system issues.
