Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking a Drainage Design Engineer to join our Transportation and Infrastructure team.

The role focuses on planning, analysis, and design of roadway drainage, bridges, and stormwater systems for public and private projects. The candidate should have a strong hydrology/hydraulics background, 4+ years of drainage design experience, and proficiency with HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, HY-8, StormCAD, and Civil 3D interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Biological and Agricultural Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of drainage and hydraulic design experience (transportation preferred)
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Strong knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics principles
• Proficiency with drainage/design software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8/HydroCAD, StormCAD
• Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Familiarity with NCDOT and local agency drainage standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for roadway, bridge, and site development projects
• Design hydraulic structures and prepare survey reports
• Conduct floodplain analyses and prepare regulatory packages
• Design stormwater drainage systems and SCMs
• Prepare drainage reports, calculations, drawings and memos
• Assist with permitting and regulatory coordination
• Mentor junior staff and support quality control
