Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. in San Diego seeks a Distribution Project Planner to support development of strategic project plans for gas and electric facilities, from scope through completion.

You will provide oversight, mentor peers, interface with customers, prepare orders and design calculations, and apply standards per CPUC rules using AutoCAD, GIS and SAP. Responsibilities include site scope determinations, collaboration with designers and PMs, and ensuring safe, cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma.
• 7+ years of experience on distribution system projects.
• Qualified Designer (Overhead, Underground, or Gas).
• Communicates with project team members to develop compliant designs.
• Ability to discuss design approaches and decisions clearly.
• When needed, substitutes in project meetings and communicates design details.
• Experience collaborating with designers, planners and PMs on design matters.

Overview

The Distribution Project Planner will assist in the development of strategic project plans, which will help the Company meet its goals.

Responsibilities

Provides project oversight and mentorship to peers and technical assistance for all project scope & determinations during daily operations.
• May visit work sites to and assist with determination of scope to enable designs of moderate to high complexity for additions and modifications to Company gas and/or electric facilities from onset through completion of project.
• As necessary, meets with customers to identify specific design limitations, and customer requests.
• Prepares service orders, field memos and moderate construction work orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to Company policies, safety orders, and CPUC regulations.
• Provides knowledge of and experience with the interpretation and application of design and engineering principals, overhead, underground, distribution, CPUC Rules, gas and electric theory standard practices and construction calculations.
• Required proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, MS Office applications, Smartsheet, SAP and web based applications. Identifies site specific obstacles, relays this information to peers, presents design options for consideration and critical infrastructure issues.

Qualifications

• Communicates with other project team members in the development of a compliant design according to appropriate standards.
• Ability to effectively communicate with regards to design approach and decisions made during the design process.
• In the absence of the Project Manager or Project Designer, able to substitute in project meetings and communicate effectively with regards to the design.
• Communicates with other project team members and customers in the development of a compliant design according to appropriate standards.
• Substantial experience working with designers, planners and PM's on matters related to design. Manages design files and functional organization of design comments and iterations.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $108,000 - $125,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.

• Work is performed in both office and field settings.
• Frequent travel to customer locations is required to gather information to develop project scope.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, traffic, noise, and other field hazards may occur.
• Requires interaction with customers, clients, engineers, designers, and operations personnel.
