Job summary

Capital One seeks a Sr. Distinguished Engineer to lead the Customer Management engineering organization, defining technical strategy for foundational platforms and horizontal teams (SRE, Sustained Engineering, Data, Operations).

You will mentor leaders, guide architecture, and work hands-on to ship high-impact credit decisioning and offers in real time. You will manage 100+ engineers, champion engineering excellence, and advance GenAI-enabled tooling and self-service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field per basic qualifications.
• 10+ years of software engineering, distributed systems architecture, or platform engineering per preferred qualifications.
• Experience leading large-scale engineering organizations (50+ engineers).
• Extensive experience with API design and microservices in high-availability, high-throughput environments.

• Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation.

• Drive decommissioning of legacy systems and converge to a modern destination stack.
• Stand up a hybrid SRE + Engineering Productivity function across Acquisitions engineering.
