Job summary

The JCC of Stamford seeks a Senior Director to lead The Vogel Family Center for Early Learning, including KinderPlace and Sara Walker Nursery School, on the Stamford campus. You will drive quality and licensing compliance, oversee enrollment and budgets, mentor program directors, and build strong teams to keep classrooms full and families engaged; this is a full‑time, on‑site leadership role.

Candidates should have extensive early childhood leadership, CT director qualifications, bilingual

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development or education.
• 8+ years in early learning, camp or school settings with classroom teaching.
• At least 3 years in an administrative or leadership role.
• Experience supervising leaders and managing enrollment and budgets.
• Meets CT OEC director requirements, incl 3 credits in early childhood/educational administration.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Background checks required by CT law for child care staff.
• Experience directing a licensed child care center (infant/toddler).
• Experience leading multiple programs/sites and NAECY accreditation.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Able to supervise indoors/outdoors, lift up to 40 pounds, full-time schedule.

Position Summary

The Senior Director leads The Vogel Family Center for Early Learning, which includes KinderPlace and Sara Walker Nursery School on the Stamford campus. KinderPlace, a full year, full time program serves children from infants through Fives and opened a newly licensed infant wing in September 2026.Sara Walker Nursery School, a 9 month part day (with flexible extended hours) program serves children from 15 months - age 5. The directors of both programs report to the Senior Director.

The Senior Director is responsible for quality, licensing compliance, enrollment, staffing and financial results. We are looking for an experienced educator and proven leader who sets high standards, builds strong teams and keeps classrooms full.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in early childhood education, child development or education
• At least 8 years of experience in early learning, camp or school settings, including significant classroom teaching experience
• At least 3 years in an administrative or leadership role
• Experience supervising other leaders and managing enrollment and budgets
• Meets Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) program director requirements, including at least 3 credits in early childhood or educational administration (or completion within one year of hire)
• CPR and First Aid certification, or obtained within 30 days of hire
• Employment is contingent on all background checks required by Connecticut law for child care staff
• Experience directing a licensed child care center, including infant and toddler care
• Experience leading more than one program or site
• Experience with NAEYC accreditation
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors, sit on the floor, move quickly and lift up to 40 pounds
• Full-time, Monday through Friday, with a long program day and occasional evening family events

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 annually
