Job summary

Summit Therapeutics Inc. is seeking a Senior Director Regional Medical Science to lead our field Medical Science Liaison team in Oncology, driving scientific engagement and strategic field execution across the US.

You will mentor seven MSLs, translate TA strategy into regional priorities, ensure compliant programs, and collaborate with Medical Affairs to generate evidence. This is a remote role with up to 70% travel and a focus on Lung Cancer and other solid tumors.

Qualifications

• Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) required.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience, including at least 3 years leading a field-based MSL team and 5 years in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry roles.
• Significant leadership experience in solid tumor oncology including pre-launch and launch experience; recent Lung Cancer experience highly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor 7 member MSL national team, ensuring high quality, compliant scientific engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
• Monitor and boost team performance using data, dashboards, and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement and continuous development
• Translate the therapeutic area (TA) and Medical Affairs strategy into actionable regional field priorities and objectives
• Ensure effective execution of field medical programs including product launches, proactive initiatives, clinical education, and scientific exchange
• Oversee collection, analysis, and communication of Medical Insights to inform strategy, evidence generation, and lifecycle planning
• Partner with Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to align field activities with company objectives
• Facilitate compliant, routine communication with cross-functional partners such as specialists, district managers, key account managers, and clinical educators

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

HARMONi: Phase 3 clinical study which was intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to placebo plus chemotherapy in patients with EGFR-mutated, locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC who were previously treated with a 3rd generation EGFR TKI.

HARMONi-3: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

HARMONi-7: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab monotherapy compared to pembrolizumab monotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.

HARMONi-GI3: Phase 3 clinical study intended to evaluate ivonescimab in combination with chemotherapy compared with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy.

Ivonescimab is an investigational therapy not presently approved by any regulatory authority other than China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). Summit is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and has additional offices in California, New Jersey, the UK, and Ireland.

Role Overview

The Field Director of Oncology MSL is a senior leadership position within the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) organization, responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a MSL team to deliver high-quality, compliant, non-promotional scientific engagement. The role translates therapeutic area strategy into regional execution, elevates scientific exchange quality, and ensures field-captured insights inform medical planning and evidence strategy.

• Partner with Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to align field activities with company objectives
• Facilitate compliant, routine communication with cross‑functional partners such as specialists, district managers, key account managers, and clinical educators

QualificationsandRequirements

• Education

• Experience

• Significant leadership experience in solid tumor oncology including pre‑launch and launch experience required (recent Lung Cancer experience highly preferred).
• Proven track record of building and optimizing field medical teams, supporting product launches, and managing through leaders.
• Experience in a biotech or fast‑paced, evolving environment preferred.

Pay Transparency

$203,000 - $253,000 USD

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
