BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. is seeking a Director, Corporate Counsel, R&D to serve as a strategic legal partner to Worldwide Research and Development (WWRD).

You will advise cross-functional teams on legal matters from research through global clinical development, focusing on risk management and scalable processes. The role requires a J.D., California bar admission, and 8+ years of biotech/pharma experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of a U.S. state bar and eligible to practice as in-house counsel in California.
• Approximately 8+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in biotech/pharma.
• Significant experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex agreements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary legal advisor to R&D functions and teams, providing practical and strategic counsel on legal matters.
• Advise on global Phase 1–4 clinical studies, data privacy, and transfer of clinical and research data.
• Draft and negotiate a wide range of R&D agreements including clinical trial, CRO and vendor agreements, confidentiality and data-use agreements.
• Develop scalable legal processes, templates and guidance to support evolving R&D needs.
