Job summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics – Maritime RF and Sensor Solution Line is seeking a Senior Director of Programs to shape, capture, and grow new business program portfolios. This role will have accountability for new business capture, program execution, internal investments, and facilities planning to support growth with existing and new customers.

You will lead cross-functional IPTs across development, production, and sustainment, manage risk, and drive cost control and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Engineering or business degree required; Masters preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in Program Management preferred (PMP or DAU Level 3).
• Advanced knowledge of program management tools and procedures.
• Leadership and management skills including influence management and conflict resolution.
• Experience leading new business capture, including opportunity qualification, capture planning, teaming, and proposal development in aerospace/defense.
• Experience with supplier engagement and subcontract management across multi‑tier supply chains.

Job Summary

The Senior Director of Programs will shape, capture, and grow new business program portfolios for our Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics – Maritime RF and Sensor Solution Line of Business. This position will have accountability for new business capture, program execution, internal investment, and the facilities and infrastructure planning needed to support our growth within existing and new customers.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with business development, marketing and sales to enhance and grow the portfolio of programs within existing customers, while identifying adjacent opportunities for expansion.
• Lead and support new business capture activities including opportunity identification, capture strategy, teaming, and proposal development to drive profitable growth.
• Ensure proper methods are followed to track program cost, schedules and performance across program area(s) against established program milestones; reporting the status to management stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Lead and integrate functions across Integrated Product Team(s) (IPTs) across development, production, and sustainment programs.
• Develop and implement recovery plans for yellow and red programs (i.e. schedule, cost, technical performance).
• Work closely with existing customers, and obtain feedback on the company's performance.
• Manage internal investments that pertain to assigned program(s) driving growth and achieving Return On Investment (ROI) targets.
• Contribute to Program Management Office development to include coaching, teaching, retaining, attracting, and mentoring for all programs and contributing to the pipeline of Program management talent in the organization.
• Conduct program reviews that identify root-cause and corrective action as well as continuous improvement and financial performance.
• Understand and implement lean and process improvement principles (i.e. Lean Six Sigma).
• Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risk throughout the program life cycle.

Qualifications

• Engineering or business degree required. Masters degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in Program Management preferred (i.e. PMP or DAU level 3).
• Advanced knowledge of program management tools and procedures.
• Leadership and management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”.
• Significant experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment to include proposal development, requirements decomposition, generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement efforts.
• Demonstrated experience leading new business capture, including opportunity qualification, capture planning, teaming agreements, and proposal development in a competitive aerospace/defense environment.
• Proven experience in supplier engagement and subcontract management, including supplier selection, performance management, and issue resolution across a multi-tier supply chain.
• Preferred experience with bidding and executing Other Transactional Agreement (OTA), IDIQ, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracts.
• Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting; experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity, and variance analysis.
• Experience in finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and supply chain management.
• Preferred experience in facility renovation and expansion initiatives required to support growth, partnering with Engineering, Operations, and Facilities to scope, schedule, and execute infrastructure projects with minimal disruption to production.
• Advanced problem solving skills.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, project reviews, scheduling and budget control.
• Must have a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/defense programs such as a prime or sub-contractor to a domestic or foreign military organization.
• Must have excellent leadership and oral and written communication skills.
• Must have a portfolio of programs in which financial objectives (profit, cash flow, revenue, bookings) were achieved, with a demonstrated ability to grow that portfolio within existing customer accounts.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
