Job description

Own the paid media engine for a $1Billion+ brand. Decide what to launch and where the budget goes.

Total Annual Package: Up to USD $240,000 + comprehensive benefits (Base salary + monthly performance bonus of up to 20% of base)

Location: Remote (Global)

Growth path from here is fluid: all paid channels, including the ones you select, moving toward scope at the intersection of capital allocation, creative strategy, and P&L ownership. What takes 4-5 years elsewhere happens in 1-2 here.

We've been AI-first since December 2023: Every proposal that reaches the CEO ships with an LLM validation link. Your first spend case gets stress-tested by an advanced model to eliminate blind spots.

Role Overview:

Puffy, a market-leading, nine-figure D2C brand and Top 5 US mattress brand with over $1 billion in sales, is hiring a Senior Director of Performance Marketing to own a multi-million-dollar monthly paid media engine across Google and Meta with full authority over systems, measurement, creative testing, capital allocation, and team, reporting directly to the CEO.

This role exists to convert a multi-million-dollar paid budget into maximum contribution margin, building the decision systems, measurement infrastructure, and team that let the revenue engine run and scale without day-to-day executive involvement.

The Problems You'll Own:

  • Primary: Decide what to launch and where the budget goes: A multi-million-dollar monthly budget runs across Google and Meta, and every standard campaign type is already live and optimized: brand and non-brand search, PMax, Meta prospecting and retargeting, Shopping and feed. Growth now has to come from what isn't running: new campaign structures, new creative, a different mix of spend.

  • Secondary: Build the system that runs the scaling decisions: Design and document the rules that govern spend, when to pause, when to increase budget, when to pull back, and the measurement each decision depends on. The system should run the scaling without day-to-day executive oversight.

The Career Accelerator:

This is not a role where you manage dashboards and present decks.

  • The scope is scarce: very few Senior Directors of Performance Marketing get simultaneous authority over multi-million-dollar monthly budgets on both major platforms, full ownership of measurement and creative systems, org design power, and a direct line to the CEO with no layers in between.

  • Your first 12 months: build pause/hold/scale logic, budget guardrails, and escalation protocols from scratch. Deploy incrementality testing and reconcile platform attribution against backend reality. Architect the creative engine as a system: concept pipeline, testing taxonomy, briefs, hook/hold analytics, UGC, and whitelisting. Design capital allocation on marginal return rather than platform-reported averages. Design promo architecture across the retail calendar: pulse strategy, financing offers, funnel alignment. Identify, evaluate, and pilot paid channels beyond Google and Meta. Structure the performance marketing function itself. Shape the future of performance marketing at Puffy, where paid media is the primary growth lever.

What Is In It For You:

This isn't just another performance marketing role. This is your chance to become a true industry architect.

1. Own the Paid Engine End to End, With No Layers Above You

You set the strategy, build the systems, and own the outcomes.

  • You allocate multi-million-dollar monthly budgets across Google and Meta on marginal return rather than platform-reported averages, design the pause/hold/scale logic and budget guardrails that govern all paid spend, and serve as the single source of truth on paid media performance. Creative runs as a system you architect: concept pipeline, testing taxonomy, briefs, hook/hold analytics, UGC, whitelisting.

  • You hold profitability to a contribution-margin standard after returns and financing costs, not ROAS in isolation. You lead, assess, and structure the performance marketing function with org design authority and CEO sign-off, reporting directly to the CEO.

2. Join a High-Performance Organization and Partner with the 1%:

  • Puffy: Top 5 Mattress Brand in US with Over $1 Billion USD in Sales

  • Work directly with Forbes Council Member CEO. Your vision is the company's vision.

Gain firsthand exposure to strategic decisions and high-velocity execution that drives a global brand

3. Embrace Radical Flexibility

Work from anywhere in the world with meaningful time zone overlap. Structure your environment around your best thinking, whether that's a home office, a co-working space, (OR) our Dubai headquarters (with full relocation, visa support, and 0% income tax if you choose). Your output is your credential, not your location.

4. Become the Operator Other Brands Try to Hire

In most companies, performance marketing leaders inherit a system somebody else built and spend the next three years defending its numbers in meetings. Here you build it. When the CEO decides how much capital goes into growth next quarter, your model is the input to that decision, not a report on it afterwards. You'll leave with a paid media system you designed end to end, and the proof that it held contribution margin at scale, which is the part almost nobody in this function can actually show. Puffy has been AI-First since December 2023, so you'll build it with an AI-native toolbox behind you rather than an agency deck in front of you.

What You'll Need:

  • 7+ years in performance marketing with sustained ownership of $1M+/month on both Google and Meta (concurrently or across roles). \"Ownership\" means authority over strategy, structure, and budget, not just execution.

  • Google depth at PMax-era: campaign structure, feed management, brand/non-brand economics.

  • High-AOV considered-purchase experience ($1,000+ order values): sparse-conversion, long-decision-cycle categories.

  • Personally built, not inherited, bid, budget, and pause decision systems at scale. You'll be asked to present a playbook you authored.

  • Statistical decision literacy: volume gating, false-kill vs. wasted-spend trade-offs, threshold derivation, incrementality test design.

  • Creative testing systems at scale in a post-ATT environment: concept-vs-variation discipline, creative analytics.

  • Team leadership including senior direct reports. Experience building or restructuring a performance marketing function.

  • Structured approach to new channel evaluation: selection frameworks, pilot design, budget allocation, and kill criteria.

Good-to-Have:

  • Scripting against Meta/Google APIs; Google Ads Scripts.

  • Mixed agency + in-house background.

  • Experience with emerging paid channels (e.g., TikTok, Connected TV, affiliate/partnerships, etc.).

  • D2C e-commerce background in home goods, furniture, or comparable high-AOV verticals.

The Puffy DNA:

We're restless, perpetually hungry, and fast-paced, driven by an unwavering belief that we can outperform any competitor, regardless of their size.

  • Be the Owner: We don't hire employees; we welcome owners. You're accountable for results, not activity.

  • Execute with Urgency: We thrive in high-stakes environments by making thoughtful decisions quickly and acting decisively.

  • Demand Excellence: We solve the hard problems that others can't, pushing the boundaries of our craft.

  • Be AI-First: Daily multi-turn AI conversations challenge your assumptions.

  • Go All-In: When the mission demands it, we rally as one team to cross the finish line.

  • Compensation: Total Annual Package: Up to USD $240,000 + comprehensive benefits (Base salary + monthly performance bonus of up to 20% of base)

Annual salary review every January

  • Health & Protection: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (based on country of hire)

  • AI-First organization with access to AI-native tool stack

  • Remote First: Work from the comfort of your home office

  • International team collaboration across 16+ nationalities. Your assumptions get challenged daily.

  • Eligibility for selection to the Leaders Club, an elite recognition program featuring premium wellness memberships, exclusive networking with senior leadership, and annual leadership retreats

  • Eligibility for nomination as 'We Are' Champion of the Month, monthly recognition with gift vouchers and company-wide celebration for exceptional contributions
