Job summary

KIPP NYC is seeking a Senior Director of Payroll to lead a complex payroll function across multiple entities, schools, and programs. You will guide strategy, controls, and service delivery with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Reporting to Finance leadership, you will manage a team of payroll professionals, optimize UKG configurations, and partner with People Operations, FP&A, and external vendors. This is a hybrid, in-person role based in NYC with campus travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field is required.
• Significant progressive payroll experience leading a complex payroll function.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing and ability to review results.
• Experience with salaried and hourly employees; strong internal controls and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll function operations across multiple entities and schools.
• Oversee regular, supplemental, and off-cycle payroll processing.
• Develop and monitor payroll controls, calendars, and service standards.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll rules.
• Coach and develop payroll team including Assistant Director and Clerks.
