Job summary

Global FinTech Talent is partnering with a fast-growing global FinTech business to appoint a Director / Senior Director of Risk. This leadership role requires a risk expert who can build, not just maintain, an enterprise-wide governance framework and drive risk across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will act as the second line of defence and collaborate with senior stakeholders in Commercial, Legal, Finance, Operations and IT Security to scale risk management globally.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in Risk Management across USA/Asia/Europe.
• Strong exposure to commercial/business risk and working with Commercial teams.
• Experience designing and implementing commercial risk frameworks.
• Proven track record in Enterprise Risk Management programmes.
• Knowledge of counterparty, supplier and concentration risk.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the enterprise risk governance framework (risk appetite, standards, accountability).
• Lead the Risk Committee and drive remediation and accountability across functions.
• Own counterparty risk across clients and suppliers, including credit and reputational risk.
• Develop commercial risk frameworks for clients, use cases and deal structures.
• Provide senior-level risk guidance on complex client situations.
• Oversee customer risk and due diligence assessments.
• Partner with IT Security on cyber and technology risk.
• Support assurance requirements including ISO 27001, SOC 2 and PCI DSS.
• Own the Business Continuity Management framework.
• Oversee legal, regulatory and data privacy risk including GDPR and CCPA.

HIRING: Director / Senior Director of Risk

We are partnering with a fast-growing global FinTech business to appoint a Director / Senior Director of Risk.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced risk professional who knows how to build, not just maintain.

The business operates internationally and partners with some of the world's leading financial services and FinTech brands. As the company continues to scale, they are looking for a senior risk leader to strengthen and evolve their enterprise-wide risk governance framework.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will act as the second line of defence and work closely with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Legal, Finance, Operations and IT Security.

What you'll own:

• Build and evolve the enterprise risk governance framework, including risk appetite, standards and accountability
• Lead the company's Risk Committee and drive remediation and accountability across functions
• Own counterparty risk across clients and suppliers, including credit, reputational and concentration risk
• Develop commercial risk frameworks governing clients, use cases and deal structures
• Provide senior-level risk guidance on complex client situations and unusual or high-risk commercial arrangements
• Oversee customer risk and due diligence assessments
• Partner with IT Security on cyber and technology risk
• Support assurance requirements including ISO 27001, SOC 2 and PCI DSS
• Own the Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework
• Oversee legal, regulatory, contractual and data privacy risk, including GDPR and CCPA

What we’re looking for:

• 10+ years' experience in Risk Management, in USA and/or Asia and/or Europe
• Strong exposure to commercial/business risk, ideally working directly with Commercial, Business Development or Client Management teams
• Experience designing and implementing commercial risk frameworks
• Proven experience building or significantly evolving Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programmes
• Strong knowledge of counterparty, supplier and concentration risk
• Experience with BCM and business resilience
• Working knowledge of legal, regulatory and data privacy risk
• Enough understanding of cyber/IT security risk to effectively challenge and partner with technical teams
• Experience within a FinTech, financial services, technology or similarly high-growth environment
• Comfortable building frameworks from scratch in a lean, fast-moving organisation
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge senior leadership when required

This is not a role for someone who only wants to operate an established risk framework.

We are looking for a pragmatic, commercially minded risk leader who can balance risk versus revenue, bring structure without unnecessary bureaucracy, and build a function that can scale alongside a rapidly growing international business.
