Senior Director of Quality and Patient Safety

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Quality and Patient Safety, the Senior Director for Quality & Patient Safety at Saint Francis (SF) and St. Mary’s (SM) provides strategic leadership, planning, organization, and management for all aspects of the Quality & Patient Safety programs at these facilities. This senior leadership role collaborates with executive teams, physician leaders, and other key partners to develop and execute strategies to meet institutional and external quality and safety goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives across UCSF Health community hospitals.
  • Oversee patient safety programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in partnership with the UCSF Health Director of Regulatory Affairs.
  • Manage hospital epidemiology and infection control activities.
  • Utilize data analytics to inform quality improvement efforts.
  • Enhance patient experience in collaboration with UCSF Health Division Director of Experience.
  • Manage quality and regulatory aspects of outpatient departments, including MACRA/MIPS, CLIA licenses, and other accreditation programs.
  • Oversee hospital and outpatient program audits, CMS STAR ratings, and accreditation surveys.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare profession; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a large medical center with a focus on quality improvement.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with healthcare quality methodologies, data analysis, and hospital management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Details

The salary range is $144,200 - $350,000 annually, with final compensation based on experience and internal equity. The role requires flexibility to work at various UCSF locations and is based in San Francisco, CA, with a typical schedule Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
