Job summary

Volunteer State Community College seeks a Senior Director of Academic Support to provide strategic and operational leadership for an integrated portfolio of academic support and digital learning services. The role reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and aligns library services, tutoring, online learning, and related technologies to advance student access, learning, and completion.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in library or information science, education, instructional technology, higher education administration, or a closely related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education.
• Three years of supervisory or management experience with personnel, budgets, programs, or services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated vision for the Library, Learning Commons, and Distance Learning aligned with the College strategy.
• Advise the Vice President for Academic Affairs on academic support services, digital learning strategy, emerging technologies, and resource needs.
• Lead coordinated planning among the three functional areas to improve student and faculty experience and reduce gaps in service.
• Provide senior oversight for library operations, collections, research assistance, information literacy, and services across locations and online.
• Promote accessibility, open educational resources, and alignment with accreditation requirements.
• Supervise, support, and evaluate assigned leaders and employees; manage budgets and technology investments.
