POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director, Medical Affairs Strategy will be responsible for developing and executing the Medical Affairs strategy for Disc Medicine’s myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) portfolio, with an initial focus on selcodebart (DISC-0974) in myelofibrosis-associated anemia and future pipeline opportunities including DISC-3405 in polycythemia vera (PV). This role serves as the medical affairs lead for the MPN portfolio, developing therapeutic area-specific medical strategy and providing scientific leadership across scientific engagement, KOL strategy, congress activities, medical education, and evidence generation, while partnering with Medical Affairs leadership to ensure alignment with broader organizational priorities.

Reporting to SVP, Head of Medical Affairs and Clinical Development, this role will work closely with the Executive Director, Medical Affairs Strategy to ensure alignment of MPN medical priorities with the broader Medical Affairs strategy, operating model, budget, and cross-functional initiatives. The Senior Director will develop MPN-specific medical strategies and plans that are integrated into the overall Medical Affairs strategy and execution framework.

The Senior Director will collaborate closely with all Medical Affairs functions including Field Medical - Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), and cross-functional partners in Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Corporate Strategy, Program Management, and Regulatory to advance scientific understanding, address evidence gaps, and support the successful development and lifecycle management of Disc Medicine’s MPN portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute the Medical Affairs strategy for the MPN portfolio, aligned with global medical objectives and evolving scientific, clinical, and healthcare landscape needs.
  • Develop and/or refine MPN-specific medical plans, priorities, and tactical recommendations for integration into the broader Medical Affairs strategy and operating plan.
  • Serve as a scientific and strategic leader for Disc Medicine’s MPN programs, providing disease area expertise and medical perspective across the organization.
  • Develop and execute MPN KOL engagement strategies, including identification, mapping, and relationship development with key experts, investigators, and scientific leaders.
  • Lead MPN scientific exchange activities, including advisory boards, expert panels, and other external engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with Medical Communications/Scientific Communications and other cross-functional teams to refresh and refine scientific communication plans, congress strategies, publications, and medical educational initiatives.
  • Provide medical input into evidence generation strategies, including real-world evidence (RWE), HEOR initiatives, clinical research collaborations, and publications.
  • Partner with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations to support investigator engagement and clinical trial activities.
  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate external insights to inform Medical Affairs strategy, evidence generation, and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as the MPN Medical Affairs representative on cross-functional teams.
  • Support review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials through the Medical Review Committee (MRC) and Promotional Review Committee (PRC), as applicable, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain strong scientific and ethical standards in all Medical Affairs activities and external engagements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree required (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of Medical Affairs or related pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience.
  • Hematology/oncology experience required; expertise in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), myelofibrosis, anemia, or related hematologic disorders strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing Medical Affairs strategies within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience engaging hematology KOLs, leading advisory boards, and facilitating scientific exchange.
  • Experience supporting evidence generation initiatives, including RWE, HEOR, or clinical research collaborations preferred.
  • Strong scientific communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional, growth-stage biotech environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30%, including attendance at scientific conferences.

The annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rates are determined by considering multiple factors including qualifications, relevance of experience, education & credentials, subject matter expertise, and internal parity.

Salary Range

$280,000 - $340,000 USD
