Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact. To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

Working closely with BCG's CFO and global Executive Committee, PSG is the team responsible for designing, developing, and executing world class evaluation, development, compensation and equity programs for our global Managing Directors and Partners (MDPs). These matters are of critical importance to both BCG and personally to our over 2,000 MDPs meaning that PSG is a highly visible, integral and trusted advisor in BCG's global finance function.

The MDPs are the owners of BCG and responsible for driving the business within their markets and practice areas. At BCG we believe that having robust and transparent reward and evaluation arrangements helps incentivize our MDPs to grow and shape our business in a way that not only benefits our clients and people but also helps to fulfil one of BCG's key purposes of unlocking the potential of those who advance the world.

We work within a fast-paced environment where precision, innovation and transparent communication are key to the firms MDP agenda. PSG play a vital role in both responding to and anticipating challenges in a way that allows us to maintain our position as employer of choice for the most talented and pioneering leaders in the global consulting market.

This role will be a senior advisor and primary point of contact for MDPs and BCG leadership across North America on MDP compensation and equity matters. Following an initial period of apprenticeship to build a strong understanding of BCG's Compensation and Equity Framework, you will take responsibility for advising individual MDPs and leadership across your assigned markets.

Our MDP Compensation & Equity programs include bonus plans, deferred compensation and partnership equity. Senior Directors are responsible for leading, developing and maintaining these programs in the markets they oversee. You will develop a deep understanding of local market requirements, including relevant tax and legal considerations, and how these interact with BCG's global partnership structure. You will assess risk and suitability and adapt programs as market and regulatory environments evolve.

Senior Directors also oversee broader aspects of the MDP career lifecycle, including international mobility, external MDP hiring and departures from the BCG partnership, and contribute to high-impact global projects related to the evolution of the partnership.

Please note that for London-based candidates, flexibility to work with US-based colleagues and stakeholders outside standard UK hours as needed.

You're Good At

We are looking for a technically strong senior professional who is an excellent communicator and comfortable advising senior leaders on complex, sensitive and often highly personal matters. You will be able to translate complex tax, legal, compensation and equity considerations into clear, practical advice for MDPs and BCG leadership.

You will bring strong professional judgment and the ability to understand different stakeholder perspectives, develop recommendations and influence outcomes in a highly global environment. Building trust and credibility with senior stakeholders, while collaborating effectively with Tax, Legal, Finance and other specialist teams, will be critical.

You will be comfortable managing significant detail and complexity while maintaining a clear view of the broader commercial context. An inquisitive mindset, pragmatism and a focus on continually improving our MDP programs and individual MDP experience are important to success in the role.

Basic Job Responsibilities
MDP compensation and equity country program management and development
  • Advise individual MDPs on their compensation and equity, including how outcomes relate to individual and BCG performance.
  • Lead and maintain country compensation and equity programs, working with functional experts to understand and apply relevant US and local tax law, partnership concepts, employment law and BCG global principles.
  • Develop a strong understanding of BCG's economic model and its implications for MDP compensation and equity programs.
  • Develop clear, concise communications for individual MDPs and leadership teams, setting out complex issues, options and recommendations in a practical and commercial way.
  • Advise MDPs on equity purchases and sales, including associated cash and tax implications.
  • Oversee compensation and equity matters associated with international mobility, MDP lateral hires and departures from the partnership.
  • Partner with external advisors and internal Tax, Legal, Controllers, Treasury and other Finance teams to manage compliance and ensure programs are appropriately implemented and operated.
  • Regularly review MDP programs within the markets covered, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement and implementing change where required.
What You'll Bring
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience, with significant tax and/or legal expertise.
  • Relevant backgrounds may include professional services experience in partnership/private client tax, high-net-worth tax, global mobility or employment law, or an in-house compensation and benefits role with significant tax or legal exposure.
  • Experience applying tax or legal expertise to complex compensation, equity, partnership or related matters, with US experience preferred.
  • Professional tax, legal or accounting qualification desirable.
  • Significant experience advising and influencing senior leaders on complex, sensitive matters, with the credibility and judgment to operate effectively with MDP-level stakeholders.
  • Experience working across functions and geographies in a complex multinational environment.
  • For London-based candidates, flexibility to work with US-based colleagues and stakeholders outside standard UK hours as needed.
Who You'll Work With

You will work directly with MDPs and senior BCG leadership across North America, including regional, system and office leadership. You will partner closely with PSG leadership and colleagues responsible for MDP compensation and equity in North America, as well as the broader global PSG team. You will also work extensively with colleagues across Tax, Legal, Treasury, Finance and other specialist functions. The role is part of a highly global team, with colleagues across North America, Europe and Asia, and requires close collaboration across time zones.
