Role Summary

This role drives forward-looking marketing strategy and growth innovation across both LillyDirect Consumer and HCP marketing. The Senior Director identifies where the business should place its next bets — new platforms, audiences, communities, partnerships, and testing approaches — and owns the content strategy that translates those bets into clear strategic briefs teams can execute against. This role sets marketing goals, KPIs, and overall budget allocation for the growth portfolio, and is a key strategic advisor to senior leadership on growth priorities and investment tradeoffs across the LillyDirect portfolio. The role is accountable for the measurable business impact of the growth bets it champions and reports to the AVP of Marketing and Partnerships for LillyDirect US.

Key Responsibilities
  • LD Enterprise Marketing Strategy: Shape and recommend LillyDirect's forward-looking marketing growth strategy across Consumer and HCP audiences; leveraging consumer segmentation, setting marketing goals, KPIs, and overall budget allocation across the portfolio.
  • Senior Leadership Influence: Serve as a primary input to senior leadership (AVP and above), influencing strategic prioritization, growth investment tradeoffs, and long-term direction for the marketing portfolio.
  • Content Strategy & Briefing: Own content strategy and briefing across Consumer and HCP, in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Growth Initiatives & Investment Recommendations: Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic growth opportunities beyond established approaches — emerging platforms, community engagement, marketing innovation, and strategic partnerships — spanning both Consumer and HCP. Pioneer new unlocks rather than only evaluating opportunities as they arise. Design and execute testing strategies to inform decision-making and make investment and resourcing recommendations for growth bets that drive enterprise goals and deliver high impact on business results.
  • Innovation Pipeline Ownership: Run a disciplined, hypothesis-driven marketing innovation pipeline — testing emerging channels, formats, partnerships, and engagement models, scaling what works and retiring what doesn't. Capture and socialise learnings so successful pilots graduate into scalable initiatives with measurable business outcomes. Track shifts in culture and media (creator economy, social-first discovery, AI-driven search) to inform growth bets; build and scale marketing programs, platform, and cultural partnerships that extend reach and speed. Own innovation budget.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Lead continuous competitive market assessment across both audiences, translating findings into strategic recommendations for leadership.
  • Business Development & Investment Alignment: Serve as Marketing's counterpart on deals with co-marketing components, partnering with the Business Development Lead on scope, investment recommendations, and execution alignment.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Capability to recruit, develop, inspire, motivate, and retain diverse marketing talent. Foster a learning environment and build marketing proficiency through individual competency-based development plans, career maps, and mentorship. Team Culture — play an active role in establishing and fostering an inclusive, diverse, and high-performing team culture as part of the brand leadership team, consistent with Team Lilly values.

  • Minimum 5 years of marketing experience
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.
