Summary

We are a one-of-a-kind, fully funded, and global organization that provides tailored guidance to catalyze transformational capital specifically for climate solutions. With secure, long-term backing from experienced funders, our client is the climate.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly analytical, deeply connected Senior Director to serve as the engine of our brand-new impact-first investing advisory practice.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for sourcing and curating deep climate content and leading the development of high-impact climate investment solutions. Operating as a critical broker for the climate impact ecosystem, you will partner closely with the VP of Impact-First Investing to connect principals and families with rigorously vetted, high-impact solutions and experts.

Managerial Responsibilities

A leader on our Global Climate Strategies (GCS) team, you will hire and directly manage a dedicated Analyst to support the curation of climate investment solutions. Beyond direct management, you will serve as a natural coach and mentor across the organization, systematically upskilling key colleagues across the GCS, Advising, and Communications teams to elevate overall investment fluency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Source and Curate Climate Investment Solutions (60%)
  • Frameworks and Vetting: Develop robust impact measurement frameworks and rigorous vetting processes for evaluating impact-first and catalytic investments.
  • Impact Assessment: Lead all impact assessments for potential deals and curate actionable opportunities that move new climate investors.
  • Network Building: Build and cultivate a dynamic, highly specialized network of global experts and advisors that the organization can tap for its impact-first investing work.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain and regularly update the organization's knowledge management system (Salesforce database) for investment solutions and products.
Practice Development and Strategy (30%)
  • Internal Upskilling: Systematically build the investment fluency of the Global Climate Strategies team in line with the impact-first investment offering.
  • Cross-Functional Synergies: Partner closely with communications, GCS and Advising teams to build a shared language and explore synergies between philanthropic advising and impact-first investing.
  • Public Education: Collaborate with Communications and Advising teams to develop and execute a public education approach and suite of products that brings new families into catalytic climate investing.
Management and Mentorship (10%)
  • Capacity Building: Coach and mentor team members across Communications and Advising as they develop impact-first investment products for our network of principals and families.
Success Criteria
  • Private Market Credibility: You bring demonstrable credibility from the private investment sector, having successfully led deal origination, due diligence, and impact assessment for catalytic/impact-first investments.
  • Systems and Framework Builder: You have a track record of developing Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) systems from first principles and excel at navigating greenfield environments.
  • Global Climate Expert: You possess deep climate investment knowledge and networks, explicitly including experience or connections across the Global South.
  • Matrixed Collaborator: You thrive in high-performing teams, holding multiple theories of change simultaneously to maximize overall climate impact.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Private Sector Track Record: Deep technical understanding of private markets, deal structures, catalytic capital mechanisms, and impact valuation.
  • Climate and the Global South: Extensive knowledge of the global climate solutions landscape, with preferred experience in Global South contexts.
  • Collaborative and Adaptive: Proven ability to operate within matrixed organization structures and adapt during periods of rapid growth and change.
  • Sector Familiarity: Familiarity with philanthropic practices, NGO partnerships, or non-profit operating environments is preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Demonstrated history of leading deal origination, due diligence, and impact assessment for impact-first investments.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) systems.

Our organization is headquartered in San Francisco, CA, with additional hubs in New York, Washington D.C., and London.
