Job summary

BD in San Diego seeks a Senior Director, Quality for the MMS-based Dispensing business to lead quality across design, development, and post-market activities. The role oversees Design Controls, Risk Management, Software Quality Engineering (embedded, applications and analytics), Cybersecurity, and Human Factors, with responsibility for a broad global team and regulatory interactions.

You will shape the MMS Quality Management System, drive product quality, and align with BD Way.

Qualifications

• A BS degree in a technical field (Engineering, Science, Math/Stat)
• At least 15 years’ leadership in Medical Device industry supporting Class II/III devices
• 8+ years of Medical Device experience at Associate Director/Director level in 500M+ revenue companies
• Expert-level knowledge of Design Controls, Six-Sigma, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, Safety Assurance Cases, and Human Factors
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and software engineering in complex devices
• Software development lifecycle knowledge, including embedded software and firmware, applications software and analytics
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
• Strong leadership with a track record of delivering results and leading large teams (30+ people)
• Experience supporting FDA/Notified Body inspections
• Broad experience with electromechanical and software devices
• Excellent communication skills up, down and outward

Responsibilities

• Single point of contact for Dispensing GM for all Quality and compliance matters
• Develop strategic quality programs overseeing design changes, new products, product enhancements, software maintenance
• Lead global teams and succession planning, organization design and deployment
• Define global quality culture enabling rapid translation of ideas to requirements
• Maintain robust and compliant QMS for design, risk management and lifecycle maintenance
• Prepare for FDA inspections and interface with regulators as needed
• Identify quality initiatives addressing field issues and drive cross-functional teams
• Provide clear communication to Executive Management and stakeholders
