Job summary

PharmaEssentia USA seeks a Senior Director of Global Data & AI Enablement to build and govern master data, infrastructure, measurement, and AI/ML capabilities for Commercial. The role collaborates with Commercial Strategy, Sales, Marketing, IT, and external vendors to ensure governance and maximize revenue impact.

The leader will establish data foundations, drive data-driven enablement, and apply agentic AI where value is demonstrated, while maintaining human judgment for strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; 12+ years in data analytics leadership is expected.
• Experience building or leading master data management, governance, and data infrastructure programs.
• Hands-on SQL; able to audit pipelines and evaluate vendor methodologies; experience with predictive/ML models.

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Global Data & AI Enablement leads a newly created function that builds and governs the master data, infrastructure, measurement, and AI/ML capabilities Commercial depends on. The function is global, with Year 1 execution focused on the U.S. and Japan, and this leader builds the team as well as the capability. Reporting to the Head of Global Operations, this leader partners closely with Commercialization Analytics & Operations, Commercial Strategy & Effectiveness, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, IT, Legal, affiliate commercial teams, and external vendors — to ensure commercial data is accurate and governed, and to establish with evidence what each commercial investment contributes to revenue.

Analytics and ROI measurement

• Own the measurement architecture linking commercial investment to revenue
• Own patient-finding and patient-persistence analytics, and translate results into resource-allocation recommendations with explicit confidence

Data Foundations & Management

• Establish and maintain master data at the customer level across all sources — profile, engagement, potential, Rx, and beyond — as the single source of truth for commercial data
• Establish data governance standards — ownership, stewardship, access, and quality thresholds — and apply them consistently as new data sources and vendors are onboarded
• Add, integrate, and standardize new data sources, and create new fields, dimensions, and metrics on demand as business needs change
• Maintain architectural separation between commercial data and Medical Affairs activity data by design
• Apply agentic AI to support data automation and governance at scale

Data-Driven Enablement

• Transform data into alerts and actionable intelligence for field and digital platforms, including first‑party activation and measurement of Rx impact from PE‑CX and other initiatives
• Enable automated, dynamic target-list delivery for third‑party digital partners via well‑governed API‑based data transfers, and adapt targeting to brand strategy

AI / ML / Advanced Analytics

• Build and refine predictive ML and advanced analytics models aligned with business priorities
• Serve as the technical subject matter expert for AI & advanced analytics, and hold a clear point of view on which capabilities are ready for business adoption and which require further validation
• Apply agentic and generative AI where they add demonstrated value, with AI carrying consistency and synthesis and named humans retaining judgment

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree (data science, computer science, engineering) preferred
• 12+ years in data, analytics, or technical leadership in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare
• Experience building or leading master data management, governance, and data infrastructure programs
• Hands‑on proficiency in SQL, able to audit a pipeline or interrogate a vendor’s methodology directly, and experience building or overseeing predictive/ML models
• Demonstrated experience designing and running controlled commercial experiments — holdout, matched‑control, or randomised account‑level tests — and defending the results to commercial leadership
• Experience partnering with commercial functions to translate data infrastructure into activation‑ready capability, and to influence senior stakeholders across functions
• Experience owning a significant external data or analytics vendor relationship, including scope and commercial terms

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience standing up a data and AI function from an early stage
• Rare disease, hematology/oncology, or another small‑population specialty setting
• Experience enabling downstream commercial teams, not campaign execution
• Familiarity with agentic AI in data governance and third‑party digital data
• Experience across the U.S. and at least one Asia‑Pacific market, ideally Japan
