Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in Federal Government Affairs, or 11+ years with a High School Diploma.
• Experience executing a federal government affairs program with political sophistication.
• Experience working with the political process and federal funding agencies.
• Experience cultivating/maintaining relationships with federal elected officials and staff.
• At least 5 years contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional leadership.
• Willing to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes an enterprise-wide federal engagement strategy aligned to Walgreens’ business priorities.
• Leads advocacy before Congress, the Executive Branch, and federal agencies on legislative and regulatory issues.
• Builds bipartisan relationships with Members of Congress, agency leaders, and stakeholders.
• Manages the federal government relations team and budget, including consultants and partners.
• Oversees development of advocacy materials like policy papers, testimony, and letters.
• Coordinates activities across states and between federal, state, and municipal governments.
