Job summary

Lilly, a global leader in pharmaceutical innovation, seeks a Senior Director of Emerging + Portfolio Scientific Communications in Indianapolis. This strategic communications leader will craft platform narratives for next‑generation science and shape how Lilly's science is understood externally.

The role partners with senior R&D and communications leadership to develop speeches, presentations, and reusable modules. Domestic travel is expected with a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, science, public relations, or related field.
• 10+ years of communications experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

Responsibilities

• Develop platform narrative strategy for Lilly's emerging science portfolio.
• Support executive speeches, presentations, and storytelling for senior leaders.
• Create reusable storytelling modules for enterprise-wide use across functions.
• Drive communications for scientific community engagement and key forums.
• Monitor competitive landscape and develop proactive positioning and messaging frameworks.
• Lead media relations for emerging science milestones and platform stories.
• Collaborate with data storytelling and consumer science pillars to ground narratives in data.
• Lead and develop direct reports and manage agency partners.
