Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Senior Director of Device Validation to lead validation of mobile devices connecting to the SpaceMobile network. This role owns the device validation programme, defines strategy and acceptance criteria, and coordinates OEM and MNO validation to certify devices for launches.

The position emphasizes building lab and in-orbit validation capabilities, regression testing, and KPI-driven reporting to executives while managing cross-functional teams across R&D, Field RAN,

Responsibilities

• Define and own the device validation strategy, test plans and acceptance criteria for devices on the SpaceMobile network.
• Lead OEM validation with smartphone OEMs and chipset vendors to test devices on the network and resolve defects.
• Lead MNO device acceptance and certification with mobile network operator partners and support demos.
• Own the device compatibility record and keep it current as devices and features change.
• Plan satellite pass demand across cell activation support, feature validation, OEM validation, and MNO testing.
• Build lab and emulation capability incl. satellite channel emulation and automation.
• Lead device validation through in-orbit testing with commercial devices from lab to orbit.
• Characterize device behavior under non-terrestrial conditions and feed findings to R&D and RAN teams.
• Establish device performance KPIs and report readiness to executive stakeholders.
• Own root-cause analysis of device issues and drive closure across R&D, Field RAN and OEMs.
• Advance test automation and analytics with regression suites and AI-assisted triage.
