Job summary

PHD Media is seeking a Senior Director of Data Science to lead the analytics team, drive predictive modeling, and deliver data-driven insights for advertising and marketing technology initiatives. You will liaise with clients and internal stakeholders, guiding strategy with advanced analytics and storytelling.

You will build scalable ML capabilities, deploy models on cloud infrastructure, and mentor team members while collaborating across cross-functional groups and platforms.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with predictive modeling and related techniques.
  • 8+ years of industry experience with Python, SQL, R.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, information management, social sciences or business/marketing related fields.
  • Experience with high-volume databases and campaigns; data-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with clients at peer level and above; inform them of updates.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop marketing strategies for existing and prospective clients.
  • Coach and standardize processes; own documentation for the Data Science team.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Director to join our Data Science team. The ideal candidate will be a data science leader with the responsibility of managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders, performing predictive modeling and data queries across a multitude of platforms in Advertising and Marketing Technology domains.

You will develop compelling actionable insights through quantitative analysis, innovative thinking, and storytelling with data. You will contribute to the delivery of smart marketing and strategic advice through the combination of data & insights gleaned through statistical and machine learning models, as well as data mining.

By applying machine learning and data query methods, you will be a liaison between data and our client’s decision‑making process. You will also inform internal and external stakeholders and prospective clients on ways of improving business processes.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Maintain a productive relationship with clients at the peer level or higher to ensure they are informed of any new activities or updates to existing projects
  • Participate on multi-disciplinary project teams developing marketing strategies for existing customers, as well as prospective clients
  • Coach and manage the learning path of other Data Science team members by standardizing processes and owning documentation
  • Present complex reporting, models, and dashboards of technical work to both informed and uninformed audiences through data storytelling to support media investment
  • Set up analysis parameters in partnership with Advertiser, Media Strategy and Digital Investment team
  • Build modeling and machine learning capabilities by deploying algorithms on top of our vast number of datasets, e.g., clustering, look‑a‑like modeling
  • Support Digital Attribution and Advertising Lift models built in data clean rooms
  • Evaluate model performance to determine cut‑off points and audience targeting pools for deployment, e.g., lift charts
  • Obtain data from various sources, including but not limited to Amazon storage service S3, Omnicom 3P data partnerships, data clean rooms from walled‑gardens, e.g., Google Ads Data Hub, Facebook Advanced Analytics, Amazon Marketing Cloud
  • Deploy scalable solutions to our cloud‑based infrastructure to process, visualize and analyze data
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with predictive modeling, databases, computational simulation, clustering, machine learning, and remote computing in academia or industry
  • 8+ years of industry experience with Python, SQL, R, and other similar statistical computing environments
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills; thrive in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical ideas to multiple audiences both verbally and in writing
  • Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, information management, social sciences or business/marketing related fields
  • Experience working in high volume data bases, utilizing quantitative techniques to solve problems such as campaign analysis, optimization, customer segmentation, and/or predictive modeling (New graduates will also be considered depending on their educational background and academic record)
  • Strong command of statistical techniques and concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A strong desire to learn and passion for digital marketing, research and analytics
  • Ability to work well with others and work in cross functional teams
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a number of concurrent tasks in a fast‑paced environment

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job‑related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, benefits include: health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, 401(k), Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, vacation days, sick days, personal days, paid parental leave, paid medical leave, and STD/LTD insurance benefits.

Compensation Range: $180,000-$220,000

$120,000 - $230,000
