Pattern Energy is seeking a Senior Director, Data, AI and Cloud to lead enterprise data strategy and AI enablement across the organization. This role oversees Data Platform & Governance, Analytics & AI, and Azure cloud/DevOps while partnering with Tech leadership to deliver scalable, secure data and AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute enterprise data, analytics, and AI strategy with executive leadership
• Own Data Platform & Governance (medallion/Databricks architecture, integration, metadata management, data quality, MDM) via the Director, Platform & Governance
• Own Analytics & AI function (BI, self-service analytics, AI/ML capabilities, enterprise AI strategy) via the Director, Analytics & AI
• Own Pattern’s Azure cloud and DevOps function, ensuring scalable, secure, cost-optimized cloud infrastructure and CI/CD practices
• Develop and lead the organization: coach and mentor directors and technical leaders, and build a scalable, federated operating model across data, AI, and cloud teams
• Ensure operational excellence and reliability across data pipelines, analytics platforms, BI assets, and cloud infrastructure; manage vendor and MSP performance
• Mitigate technical risk, enforce security controls, and ensure data governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance across data and cloud platforms, partnering with the Cybersecurity pillar
• Manage vendor contracts, cloud/data platform budgets, and external delivery partners; translate technical concepts into business value narratives for executive leadership

Responsibilities

The Senior Director, Data, AI and Cloud provides executive leadership for Pattern’s enterprise data strategy, architecture, AI enablement, and cloud infrastructure. This role sets the long-term vision for how data and AI enable business performance, digital transformation, and insight-driven decision making across the company. The role leads a multidisciplinary organization spanning data platform engineering, governance, analytics, AI, and Azure cloud/DevOps, ensuring Pattern operates on a scalable, secure, AI-ready data and cloud foundation, and partners closely with Technology leadership and business stakeholders to deliver integrated, high-impact data and AI capabilities.

Major Accountabilities

• Set and execute Pattern’s enterprise data, analytics, and AI strategy, including roadmap, operating model, and investment planning, in partnership with executive leadership and company-wide transformation initiatives.
• Own the Data Platform & Governance function (medallion/Databricks architecture, integration, metadata management, data quality, MDM) via the Director, Platform & Governance.
• Own the Analytics & AI function (BI, self-service analytics, AI/ML capabilities, enterprise AI strategy) via the Director, Analytics & AI.
• Own Pattern’s Azure cloud and DevOps function, ensuring scalable, secure, cost-optimized cloud infrastructure and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data/Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Master’s degree preferred
• 12-15+ years of progressive data/technology architecture experience, including at least 10+ years in a leadership/people management capacity; demonstrated experience architecting cloud-based data platforms (Databricks/Azure preferred), medallion/lakehouse architecture, MDM, data quality, metadata management, and BI/AI platforms

The expected starting pay range for this role is $188,000.00 - $234,000.00 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
