Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.

Whether you’re redesigning next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger— technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.

THE ROLE

AMD sits at the center of the defining technology shift of our era. As demand for high-performance and AI computing reshapes the industry, AMD is establishing itself as an AI-defining semiconductor company — and how we tell that story to the world matters enormously. The team is organized across four core functions — corporate and financial news, company and leadership narrative, proactive media and influence, and policy, issues, and crisis. This is a role for someone who has operated at the highest-stakes moments at a scaled technology company, has earned the trust of CEOs and senior executives, brings deep and active relationships across tier‑one media, and knows how to build and lead a team that consistently performs at the highest level.

THE PERSON

We are looking for a Senior Director of Corporate Communications to lead the engine behind AMD's corporate narrative, reputation, and market perception. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, this leader will own the core corporate storytelling function and lead a high‑performing team working on some of the most critical communications initiatives at one of the most consequential technology companies in the world.

The Senior Director of Corporate Communications is central to how the world understands AMD. You will help define the company's story at a pivotal moment, work alongside some of the most respected leaders in the industry and lead a team doing career-defining work on the initiatives that matter most. This is one of the most visible and consequential communications roles in technology today.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will set the strategy, standard, and pace across four core functions, and lead the team responsible for each.

Corporate and financial news / Corporate Development
  • Partner with Investor Relations to lead communications around earnings and investor moments
  • Drive company news and major corporate announcements
  • Lead communications for M&A and corporate development activity
  • Support communications for ventures and strategic investments
  • Oversee corporate social responsibility communications
Company and leadership narrative
  • Create, organize, maintain, and distribute AMD's corporate narrative across audiences and channels
  • Develop and manage executive communications for key business and technical leaders on priority topics, ensuring a consistent and differentiated voice
Proactive media and influence
  • Nurture and deepen relationships with top-tier business, technology, and financial media
  • Build relationships with influencers and creators who carry genuine technical credibility
  • Drive proactive story ideation and shape the narrative agenda
  • Lead media pitching that lands narrative-defining placements
Policy, government, and crisis
  • Lead reputation management, issues management, and crisis communications
  • Support government relations and policy communications
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Progressive years of corporate communications experience, with significant time at a scaled technology company (semiconductors, enterprise, or platform technology strongly preferred)
  • A proven track record navigating high-stakes moments, earnings, M&A, major product and platform launches, executive platform-building, and crises
  • Deep experience as a trusted advisor to CEOs and senior executives, including message development, executive positioning, and high-pressure preparation
  • Strong, active relationships** with tier‑one business, technology, and financial media, and the credibility to open doors and shape coverage
  • A track record of building and leading high-performing teams; someone who sets a high bar, develops talent, and gets exceptional work out of the people around them
  • An outstanding writer and editor with sharp news judgment and calm, sound decision-making under pressure and ambiguity
  • Comfort engaging with technical subject matter; fluency in AI, data center, or semiconductor topics is a significant plus
