Job summary

Athens-Clarke County is seeking a Director of Communications and Community Engagement to lead ACCGov’s communications, public information, and community engagement efforts. You will develop strategies to promote transparency, strengthen public trust, and improve understanding of government services and decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field with seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, public engagement, public information, media relations, public affairs, or related field.
Five years of supervisory experience required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, manage, and evaluate the operations, personnel, budget, programs, and initiatives of the Communications and Community Engagement Department.
Supervise staff, provide coaching, reviews, and performance evaluations.
Develop and administer the departmental budget; oversee contracts and services.
Lead communications strategy across digital platforms, publications, and media relations.
