Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company seeks a Director/Senior Director of Cheminformatics and Applied AI to shape platform capabilities and discovery strategy. This onsite role emphasizes scientific vision and enterprise influence across discovery programs.

You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor diverse scientists, and champion AI/ML methods to accelerate hit identification, lead optimization, and portfolio impact through collaboration with Discovery & Technology Platforms and Tech@Lilly.

Qualifications

• PhD in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 4+ years of drug discovery experience within a pharmaceutical/biotech setting; or BS/MS with 8+ years of equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a recognized expert in cheminformatics and applied AI/ML, delivering high-impact scientific contributions and strategies that advance programs to major milestones.
• Develop and apply cheminformatics, statistical, and AI/ML methods to improve hit identification and hit-to-lead across technologies and modalities.
• Drive algorithm development and applications for DEL platform, including enrichment analysis and denoising of selection data, and VS of large chemical space.
• Identify hard scientific problems and drive solutions through rigorous, creative thinking.
• Stay current with external scientific advances and rapidly deploy relevant technologies to advance program objectives.
• Partner with leadership to define platform strategy and priorities for Cheminformatics and Applied AI.
• Foster collaborations across functional teams to generate robust models and testable hypotheses.
