Job summary

Capital One’s US Card Data Science team is seeking a Senior Director, Data Scientist to lead data-driven decision making. You will build models across marketing, underwriting, and fraud, leveraging Python, AWS, Spark, and H2O on billions of records to drive customer value.

You’ll partner with data scientists, engineers and product managers to translate insights into business actions, guiding strategy and delivering high-impact results at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field plus 11 years of analytics experience.
• Master’s degree with quantitative concentration or MBA with quantitative focus plus 9 years analytics.
• PhD in a quantitative field plus 6 years analytics.
• At least 6 years of experience leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
• At least 6 years of experience working with machine learning.
• At least 6 years of experience utilizing relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver a product customers love.
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large data.
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training and deployment.
• Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals.
