Job summary

Riverside Research Institute is seeking a senior Director to lead a cognitive intelligence R&D team across Fairfax, Lexington, and Beavercreek. You will pursue and grow IR&D opportunities with DoD and IC customers, manage contracts, and report to the VP of Sensors & Systems.

The role requires strategic vision, proven leadership, and the ability to align diverse inputs, mentor mid-level leaders, and advance AI, software, and system integration programs in a collaborative not-for-profit defense

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams to solve complex technical problems and grow organizations.
• Strong proposal writing and capture experience in DoD/IC.
• Excellent oral and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute portfolio strategy to pursue R&D funding and growth.
• Provide technical direction and manage IR&D budget in AI and software.
• Lead capture, proposals, and strategy expansion across Riverside.
• Interact with DoD/IC customers to create new opportunities.
• Mentor next generation of leaders and scientists.
