Job summary

Navistar, Inc. invites applications for a Senior Digital Sculptor to join our Innovation and Design team at the Lisle, IL HQ. This hybrid role requires 3 days in the office and 2 days remote weekly, working on Class-A exterior/interior surfaces using Alias and Unigraphics.

You will interpret sketches, create production-ready surfaces, and collaborate with Design and Body Engineering to support mock builds and releases.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• 1 year of industrial design experience OR 2 years of industrial design experience required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Navistar does not sponsor for this position.

Position Overview

Navistar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Digital Sculptor to join our Innovation and Design team at our WHQ in Lisle, IL. This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home a week Monday – Friday. The Senior Digital Sculptor is responsible for creating Class-A surfaces for the exterior/interior of an automotive vehicle using Alias software. This role participates in creating surface data for mock builds and production releases using Alias or Unigraphics software. The Senior Digital Sculptor will work collaboratively with Design and Body Engineering teams. This role reports to the Chief Designer.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with automotive design staff to develop 3D surface models for supporting design theme reviews
• Interpret 2-D sketches and scan data to create high quality Class-A CAD surfaces, incorporating package and feasibility information from engineers
• Use Autodesk Alias and/or Unigraphics software to build and release Class-A production intent surfaces for tooling
• Develop and release Class-A surface CAD models to specified tolerance and model quality settings using Alias
• Utilize knowledge of design process and standards

Minimum Requirements

• Associate’s degree
• At least 1 year of industrial design experience OR At least 2 years of industrial design experience

Additional Requirements

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Proficient in the use of Autodesk, Alias, AutoStudio software or similar for building Class-A automotive surfaces
• Experience in creating concept and Class-A advanced digital surfaces
• Knowledgeable in the use 3D visualization software, such as VRED, Unreal, or Maya
• Able to work in high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines
• Sub-D modeling skills are a plus
• Strong surface modeling skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments
• Highly creative, motivated and team-oriented

Strongly Preferred

• College degree with a major in Industrial Design OR equivalent demonstrated industry experience
• 2 years of Class-A surface creation experience in the automotive industry
