Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is hiring a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) engineer to drive verification, tech transfer, and process margin improvements for 300mm wafer nodes.

The role requires strong scripting, Cadence Virtuoso, and knowledge of mask workflows, with a focus on delivering reliable high-volume production outcomes and close collaboration with design and fabrication teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field; strong verification background.
• Experience with design verification processes and performance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to develop new device offerings and libraries.
• Lead design risk assessments for new product introductions and yield improvement initiatives.
• Use EDA tools to analyze designs, extract netlists, run timing analysis, and provide guidance to fabrication teams.

Position Summary

The Design for Manufacturability (DFM) team is focused on incoming technology transfer, product optimization, new product introductions, yield improvement, process margin improvement and performance enhancement. As part of the Advanced Node Technology Development team, you will provide Design Verification for products in a high-volume production environment as well as optimization of newer products introduced exclusively at Samsung Austin Semiconductor.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• DFMengineerwillcollaboratewithbothinternalteamsandcustomer’sdesignteamstodevelopnewofferingsofdevices,pcellandstandardcelllibraries.
• Leadsprojectsrelatedtodesignriskassessmentofnewproductintroductions,analyzeyieldtodesigncorrelationsforyieldimprovementandotherKPIimprovements.
• UsesEDAsoftwaretoanalyze&designincludingextractingnetlists,timinganalysis,redundancychecks;consultsandguidefabricationteamonpossibilitiesofmarginimprovements.
• Lead/participateindevisingsolutions/methodologytofix/avoidfuturevulnerabilitiesinthedesign.
• WriteSVRF/tclcodefordesignriskassessment.
• Developsmethodologyandautomationscriptsusingbash-shell,python,tcletc.
• Communicatestechnicalinformationtoseniorleadershipoutsideofthedepartmentthroughpresentations.
• Completesotherdutiesasassigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s,Master’s,orPhDdegreeinElectricalEngineering.Otherengineeringdomaine.g.Physics,Chemistry,ElectricalEngineering,ChemicalEngineering,MaterialsScienceareokaslongascandidatehasexperiencewithdesignverificationprocess.
• ExperiencewithCadenceVirtuosoorotherEDAexperienceinatleastoneofthefollowingtools-Calibre,YieldExplorer,StarRC/xRC,ICC2&TCAD.
• Workingknowledgeofthedesign-to-maskworkflow(schematic,simulation,layout,physicalverification,GDSII,mask).
• 300mm16nm/14nm/10nmnodes(orbelow)wafermanufacturingtechnologyexperienceispreferred.
• Strongscriptingexperienceinoneofthefollowing-tcl,bash/shellorpython.

The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
