Job summary

Nelnet seeks a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to own the infrastructure, deployment automation, and security posture of Velocity, Nelnet’s cloud-native loan servicing platform running on AWS.

Velocity uses Node.js/TypeScript microservices, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and CloudFormation. You’ll define problems, propose approaches, and drive architecture with autonomy and senior influence.

Qualifications

• Senior DevSecOps role owning infrastructure, deployment automation, and security posture.
• Experience with cloud-native, serverless architectures and AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS).
• Familiarity with SOC 2 controls and security compliance in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Design, implement and monitor enterprise-grade secure fault-tolerant infrastructure.
• Automate deployment pipelines in a scalable, secure and reliable manner.
• Leverage monitoring tools to troubleshoot environment issues and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure and Security teams to enforce best practices.
