Job summary

Targeted Talent in Washington, DC is seeking a DevOps Engineer to embed with the engineering team and Own infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.

You will evaluate technologies, drive reliability, and build scalable systems while collaborating with multiple feature teams and participating in on-call duties. A CS/CE degree or equivalent is preferred, with strong Windows/UNIX and cloud experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• Extensive production experience in Windows and UNIX environments.
• Significant experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS or Azure).
• Production experience with Kubernetes, including application design.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code techniques and practices.

This is a great opportunity to put both your engineering & cloud operations skillset to use. We are currently looking for a DevOps Engineer to deeply embed within our engineering team to guide and own the course of our existing and future infrastructure in the AWS and Azure environments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement technologies that improve efficiency, performance, and reliability
• Develop and deliver innovative solutions to empower and enable engineering teams
• Drive improvements in availability, reliability, and performance of core systems: both monoliths & distributed applications
• Build reliable systems at scale as an integrated feature team member
• Engage across multiple feature teams to create strong plans for technology servicing and investment
• Participate in on-call rotational duties

Qualifications

• Extensive production experience in Windows and *NIX environments
• Significant experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure)
• Production experience with Kubernetes, including application design
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code techniques and practices
• Extensive knowledge of configuration management systems
• Experience with modern monitoring systems
• Knowledge and background with messaging integration patterns to support microservice patterns
• A sense of commitment to end-to-end product and service quality, completeness, and the resulting experience
• Good decision-making skills, conflict resolution, and follow-through with partners
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
