Job summary

Prelim is looking for a founding DevOps Engineer to join a fintech platform that sits in the critical onboarding path for banks. You will own the production environment end-to-end and partner closely with engineering and security in a regulated setting.

As the first dedicated infrastructure hire, you will build reproducible CI/CD pipelines, set uptime targets, and drive cost efficiency while maintaining SOC2/compliance readiness. Remote within the US is supported.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Deep production fluency with AWS and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Proven CI/CD pipelines that engineers genuinely enjoy using.
• Strong observability: instrumenting systems, defining SLOs, incident handling.
• Comfort with regulated‑environment demands (SOC2, ISO27001).
• A default toward automation, mechanisms, and documentation over manual process.

Responsibilities

• Own the build, test, and deploy pipeline, with progressive rollouts, fast rollbacks, and high deploy confidence
• Drive infrastructure as fully reproducible code-based environments and enforce that standard across the team
• Define and meet contractual uptime targets, building monitoring, alerting, and incident response so issues are caught before customers notice
• Mature the on‑call practice from ad‑hoc heroics into a repeatable system
• Partner with security on change management, access controls, audit logging, SOC2, and bank due‑diligence evidence
• Manage the cloud bill so growth does not translate into linear infrastructure spend

Requirements

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, ideally as an early or solo infrastructure hire
• Deep production fluency with a major cloud provider (AWS) and infrastructure‑as‑code
• Track record of building CI/CD pipelines that engineers genuinely enjoy using
• Strong observability instincts: instrumenting systems, defining SLOs, running incident processes
• Comfort with or willingness to learn regulated‑environment demands (SOC2, ISO27001)
• A default toward automation, mechanisms, and documentation over manual process

Nice to have

• Fintech, banking, or other regulated‑industry background
• Multi‑tenant SaaS architecture experience
• Database operations: backups, migrations, performance
• Security‑adjacent skills such as secrets management, network segmentation, and least‑privilege IAM
